Throwing Away Visitors for Fun!

So, you got excited about the using the RSS chicklet on your website from feedburner. You got so excited that you decided to display that you have 1 to 20 readers…REMOVE IT NOW! YOU ARE THROWING AWAY VISITORS. It is unfortunate that so many new bloggers do this in our day and age.

By displaying that you have only a small amount of readers you are telling your visitor to leave your site, it is common sense. Let’s say I come to your webpage tomorrow, oh yes, I click on a link that leads me to your site; before I have even scrolled down I see a little thing that says 5 readers…’Guess what I do next…?’

Did you guess? I hope you did. Well…my browser it still up, but I am checking out ProBlogger, not that small site that had only 5 readers, I don’t trust that site for a minute, do you? This is why people should not be displaying RSS readership until you get at least 100 subscribers.

If you display at the wrong time you are throwing visitors away like there is no tomorrow. Many people will judge a site before they even think about looking at it’s other pages. One thing they will do is see how many RSS subscribers you have, and if you have displayed your small amount of readers…they will leave the page almost instantaneously!

Learn the lesson, RSS readership should only be displayed if you are commanding more than 100 people’s attention.
