Traffic Building Part 1: 4 Steps to Traffic Building

Traffic Building is one of the single-most difficult things to do as a blogger. I am sure that all bloggers with new blogs will agree with me that is it extremely difficult. How do you get traffic to your blog? I have been trying out several ways recently and they all have their ups and downs, one thing is for sure building traffic cheap is not easy. I will only be buying ad spots on other blogs after my third or fourth month of blogging…even then might be too early…so what do you do while you are waiting?

You keep on trying to find better ways of building traffic. Today I will reveal my best tips for building traffic to your website - the free way (and the most difficult way). I have read mounds upon mounds of ebooks, earticles and other online documents relating to free traffic…although some claim that it is so easy, I can say that it is not…they have probably been lucky.

1. Social Networking with MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog and BUMPzee

I have been using MyBlogLog and BUMPzee for quite a while now…although it does not bring in a ton of traffic it does a reasonable job at making my blog that little bit more visible out there.

Making these kind of sites work for you

  • Add as many friends as you can each day (15 limit for MyBlogLog, but no apparent limit for BUMPzee)
  • Build a strong community (you can easily send a message to all members at the click of a button)
  • Network with people who have blogs like you, I have found sites in my niche by doing this.

2. Posting Comments on Other Blogs

  • One of the most difficult but also one of the most useful. (If they use DoFollow you just got yourself a higher Technorati authority)
  • Posting on other blogs, especially new ones will make you appear in the top commentators box, once again more exposure for your web destination.

3. Giving other bloggers incentives to visit and comment

  • If you provide your readers with reasons to comment like monthly prize draws and dofollow links you have a higher probability of getting more people to read and comment on your blog.

4. OTHER TIPS for Traffic Building

  • StumbleUpon! a few of your own articles (dangerous but if you do it ONLY a few times it’s fine)
  • Use other systems like DIGG, REDDIT, FACEBOOK etc…and get your site known

ONE BIG TIP! Check out your competitors websites and check out how they generated traffic in their early days…they will be of great use because they are successful blogs most probably. You can also use guest bloggers to come and blog on your blog or you can blog on their blogs.

Other tips include using Social Networking sites which I do not personally like because of PASSIVE traffic as opposed to ACTIVE traffic as I have previously mentioned. YOU HAVE TO MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO COME TO YOUR SITE, not even a yes or no question…it’s more like “I HAVE to go to www.SmallFishBigMoney.Com ”

Submit To Social Media Sites These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages.
  • bodytext
  • StumbleUpon
  • del.icio.us
  • Mixx
  • Reddit
  • Furl
  • NewsVine
  • Sphinn
  • Propeller
