10 Top Tips for Blogging Success

Blogging is sometimes seen as a ‘walk in the park’. This is one of the most stereotypical statements you hear online and it does not have much truth in it. Blogging is more than just writing about what you love, it’s what you do for that 99% of the time that you are not blogging that has the most impact on the end result…so what do you do in that time?

I know that I am promoting my site using several different methods. These include MyBlogLog, Bumpzee, BlogCatalog, Entrecard and linking to other sites. This what I have been doing and is what I will probably continue to do, it is all unpaid…but it is worth it in the long run, my Alexa rank sits at 459,914 after only 2 months of blogging. My Technorati is also going up!

The Keys to Success: What are they? A good blogger will partake in the following activities such as:

  1. Checking their statistics daily or weekly to analyze where people are coming from and which advertising methods worked best
  2. Monetizing their site in a way that is successful but non intrusive at the same time.
  3. Check their feedburner count regularly, this tip is mainly for new bloggers to check how many readers they are getting and how they got those readers.
  4. Reading other blogs in their niche, I read blogs like John Chow, Joel Comm, Courtney Tuttle almost on a daily basis, it is both interesting and informative to check out what they are writing about.
  5. Answering emails from clients or fans QUICKLY: I cannot stress how important this one is, you should be answering emails VERY QUICKLY! It is important to keep readers and contacts happy by offering them prompt service.
  6. Highly Optimized Sites, all good bloggers will have a site which is both functional but highly optimized for search engines at the same time. This means doing all the necessaries to optimize you site

7. Search Engine Tips and Tricks : This article which is located in the optimize section will provide you with ways and methods to maximize your search engine visibility whilst keeping your blog looking good!

8. Web Design Optimization : This article is about web design optimization, it is short but provides very focused information regarding XHTML and CSS validation in addition to changing site design.

9. Free Tools and Sites : This article provides you with three FREE sites which can help your site because they analyze statistics from your site and provide you with highly useful and focused information.

10. Blogging is easy…blogging successfully is another story. To blog successfully you have to have a lot of skills and knowledge in various fields such as marketing, monetizing, ad cloaking, optimizing sites for search engines, html, css and php skills amongst others! So, if you are not familiar with these check out www.w3schools.com for great tutorials to learn languages such as PHP and web design skills such as XHTML and CSS. I used the very same site to learn my skills in these languages.
