Theme Design: What do you look for?
One of the things that the blogosphere is definitely not in short supply of, are themes, good themes, bad themes and the darn-right ugly themes! But, some of them are in it for the visual aspect only, they don’t give a stuff about SEO, they could not care less about putting tags and titles in their work and they just want it to look good…that’s good, but no one wants an theme that is badly structured from a code perspective…
Today I am asking you, what do you like in a theme? (Visually) Do you like it to be very organized, clean and neat? Do you like it to have some character? Do you like it to be plain and to the point? Do you like it to be vivid and highly colourful? So, tell us about your favorite kinds of themes!
Themes are a dime a dozen, but good themes are difficult to find as I have said before, for good themes, with and SEO point of view I highly recommend you check out Courtney Tuttle’s Internet Marketing School, they have some really GREAT! themes available for download and they have all been SEO’d by Court, so you won’t be worrying about Google so you can focus more on your content. SEO WordPress Themes (be careful, the last time I checked it seemed like the theme for that section of the site had gone bust)
So, while we are on a theme designtopic discussion, I think it is only fair to talk about this blog’s theme in comparison to other blogs like Darren Rowse’s ProBlogger, John Chow’s Mogul Blog, Courtney Tuttle’s blog etc… I know they are high up there but we should be using these fantastic blogs as a comparative tool. Do you think this blog’s theme needs improvement? Personally I think we could improve by making it more interactive? what do you think? I was thinking that for the next theme release Small Fish Big Money should have some - Read More… style posts, so I can maximize the front page of my blog with more posts..what do you think?
Theme design…it makes us happy, it can sometimes make us frustrated, think carefully before changing your theme, or you might affect your standing in search engines, and if it is bad enough (and trust me, I have seen bad) it might turn visitors away! Like I do when I land on a bad design, a click out before I even start reading!

Yeah… I got frustrated when I was looking for a theme so I made my own. I kinda like your theme, fairly good layout, color-wise I would change it around so that some areas are a little more visible. Oh and maybe space things out a bit to let the content breath.
I like seeing the owners personality through the one he chooses for himself. It makes a statement about him/her. But, if I were to choose, I enjoy 2 or 3 well scattered colors, and NO BLINKY BANNERS!
