DigitGeek

DigitGeek (www.digitgeek.com) is a blog dedicated to reviewing hardware. The quality of the reviews are very high and the information is good for the everyday tech fan. Started by John TP of (www.johntp.com) the blog has been reviewing like crazy for a while now, products, products and more products. Some of the reviews are of the highly anticipated Apple Iphone, the highly sophisticated and expensive Nokia N95 and the classy Ipod Touch.

I have been keeping a close eye on this blog and I definitely believe that it will grow to become a highly successful blog, there are currently four people who write reviews for the various products, they are Adam McKerlie, John Spencer, Keith Dsouza and Ankur Gupta. All of these writers have been reviewing a lot of products for DigitGeek ever since it opened.

The site should definitely grow to be a prosperous tech site and is already making a name for itself. The reviews are good, organized and to the point, no beating around the bush, no candy coating, just straight hardware reviews from tech enthusiasts.

Talking about make money online, the site is monetized in various ways including John Chow’s TTZ Media, Widgetbucks, Kontera Content Links and Chitika eMiniMalls. These monetization systems (formats) are all PPC models. That’s great, but I believe that income potential could be maximized by putting some Amazon associates links there for the small percentage of people who want to buy it, but after all, it is only a small percentage of people and may not be worth it. Maybe he could put some Tribal Fusion on there too, always good to get some extra pennies or some extra bucks in the tip jar as Joel Comm suggests.

The site has a great design and follows in the JohnTP.Com tradition, it is basically the same layout and colours from JohnTP on a different site, which is good in my opinion because it keeps with a uniform theme and it adds to the JohnTP brand. The writers are paid per review.

    Thanks a lot for your review.

    I wasn’t planning on monetizing The Hardware Reviews (THR) so early but was tempted to try out the ad programs like Chitika, TTZ media, WidgetBucks, etc that would perform better on a site like THR than a site like JohnTP.com

    Trying these ad programs would also help me to review them on JohnTP.com :)

    THR was first monetized with Chitika eMiniMalls but then I replaced them with TTZ Media ads as they look a lot better and hopefully will perform better too.

    TribalFusion accepts sites with only 2000 unique traffic a day, so THR does not have a chance currently. I also have plans to try out AdSense, BlogAds and Amazon associates on THR once the blog starts getting good traffic.

    About the design, I did try many free themes like CopyBlogger’s theme but did not like any and so I decided to use the theme I designed for JohnTP.com itself. I will have to change it later.
