Do You Rank For Your Site’s Keyword?

Search engines continue to dominate a certain percentage of your web success. Unless you have a miracle potion that magically brings people to your site, you need search engines. Although you have read stories about people becoming independent of search engines, they probably had a huge, controversial story that helped them build buzz for their site or blog which influenced their success today…hence not needing to rely on search engines as much.

But, today I ask you, Do You Rank For Your Site’s Keyword? By this I am actually referring to the title of your site (i.e. Small Fish Big Money). I ask this because it is a very important factor in your site’s survival that you may overlook. Put yourself in a visitor’s shoes…you come to Small Fish Big Money dot com and you like the site, you leave it and hope you will come back. But, you forget the URL or you just forget to commit it to memory. What do you do next? You go to a search engine and make a query like “small money big fish”…and you will find my site at number 4 on Google.

    Great post! Going through some sort of Google shuffle right now with some sites. Jeez, it seems like one finishes going through crap with Google and the next week another goes through the same cycle! Some of these domains are under a year old, so I somewhat expect them… others are pushing 2 years now and just wondering what’s going on. Title URL is ranked 1, but my main-keywords seem to be going insane.

    Hmmm…Google has really been getting on people’s nerves lately, I think they should use 2008 as a time to recover and give people what they want. Give people in the blogosphere some slack etc…But, they unleashed a couple of nasties on people already this year, so I am really unsure of how all will go. We will have to wait and see.

    I’m number 1 for Yimto, of course that’s not really my site keyword :P

    I get a spell check “Did you mean: imtoo” from Google though

    And when I search Yimto Affiliate Marketing Blog, I get “Did you mean: vimto affiliate marketing blog” … seriously, imtoo and vimto don’t even sound like real words either :P (in fact, dictionary.com confirms it!)

    Maybe I should submit Yimto as a new word to google :P
