Every once in a while I do a review on a product that has been hyped and buzzed about for a while, and the Nintendo Wii game console is no exception. The Nintendo Wii delivered something that consumers had not experienced before, a wireless remote controller…This allowed people to play sport games, shooter games and other types of action games and feel an added sense of reality, which is always good.
Powered by an IBMPowerPC processor the Nintendo Wii was considered in September 2007 to be the sales leader of it’s generation. A very remarkable achievement for Nintendo. The Nintendo Wii features wireless connectivity, it can therefore connect to the internet with ease. One feature one the wii that makes it special is the fact that it has parental controls, allowing parents to prevent their children from playing games unsuitable for their age.
Something which makes the Nintendo Wii an even better console is that it is backward compatible with other consoles such as the previously released GameCube. The unfortunate features of the Wii as mentioned on CNET is the fact that it gobbles up batteries like crazy…which could be improved upon by using some Lithium rechargeable technology, or rechargeable batteries.
The Nintendo Wii has also been criticized for not having the graphical capabilities of it’s other friends…primarily, the Playstation 3 and the XBOX360. Despite not having these features, the Wii succeeds by being a console that can get the whole family involved…I can’t really see an eight year old child playing Halo on a plasma screen but I can see the child playing Wii Sports with their mother and father. The Wii has succeeded in it’s goal, to make the a console that the whole family can enjoy. Nintendo continually tries to target the market by aiming their advertising efforts to a very large and varied target audience.

I bought a Wii 3 months back and left solo-gaming days far behind me!
Whenever I power up the Wii, it would be a family affair where my son and wife join in the gaming fun!

Great to Hear, I really think that the Wii’s ability to make it a family thing is fantastic because I believe that a strong family bond is quintessential in life. Nowadays so many teens sit at their computers for hours on end (on MySpace etc..) and they don’t pay much attention to their family. But I try and limit my time on internet and I utilize every opportunity to go and spend time with my family.
Thanks for your comments Betshopboy!
Great to see you here.

hi. that was a great review on Nintendo. I feel with your post on Nintendo a lot of people would make up their mind to get it 4 their family as i am.
I agree that the Wii is a great console. My brother got one last summer and it great to be able to have a round of golf at home on a rainy day. It gets you more active.
Two things I noticed with your article is the fact that you say the Wii is the first console with a wireless controller. The Xbox 360 has wireless controllers also, but I think you meant it with regards to having to move the control to do certain actions making gaming a more active activity.
The other is the backward compatbility. This has been available on other consoles also, I think PS2 was the first to do it, but don’t qoute me on that. It is a very handy feature none the less.
Good review man. well done.

I have had the Wii for some time now and I would recommend it if you are big on entertaining guests at get togethers..if you are a solo gamer I would go with ps3 or 360
Thanks for your comments Character Planet, I think the overall response to whether or not people should get a Wii is…get one!
