Small Fish Big Money: Essential Writing Skills

Get Better Writing Skills With Small Fish Big Money! Essential Writing Skills: Today marks the launch of a new category at Small Fish Big Money, the launch of the writing skills category. I live in Australia, and my writing skills are continually improving; I decided to create the category in order to share them with you. As you know, writing is never about quantity, it is about quality, but how do you get quality?

Identifying Problems In Your Writing: The new section of the blog will help you identify problems in your writing. I will provide you with high quality information regarding paragraph formation, sentence structure, better grammar and increasing vocabulary. The introduction of this new section will help to propel Small Fish Big Money forward, so that we can cater to a larger audience.

This section will help all the people who have a blog but don’t have the best writing skills. The new section will explore more aspects of writing such as expository texts, what they are, how they are written and how you can write them. You don’t have to have passed English with flying colours to better your writing, but sometimes it helps.

Paragraphs: The new category will place a great degree of importance on paragraph writing. This will include how to write successful paragraphs that make audiences want to read further. Not only will it help you write better paragraphs but it will help you understand the dynamics of humans and how they read, this will enable you to better structure your articles for maximum response from your readers.

Sentences: The new category will explore sentence structure, and how this can affect whether a reader wants to continue reading an article or not. We will explore various concepts relating to sentences such as ‘hooks’ and ‘impact lines’. As we explore these, you will gain a deeper understanding of writing, and this will make you a better writer, with articles that are refined, articulate and informative. More writing skills very soon! Image from: TransformationalTools

Yes, writing skills are certainly an important element of maintaining a successful blog. There are a surprising number of bloggers out there who do not take this issue seriously and even become offended when people like me try to correct their mistakes.

I have been thinking about starting an “English Usage” category on my blog where I could address some of the most common grammatical errors that people make such as there vs. their vs. they’re, its vs. it’s, your vs. you’re, and sentence structure errors like fragments and run-ons. I’m not entirely sure about how to divide it up yet, however. I could address each error/issue separately in a series of posts and provide examples of correct and incorrect usage, or I could take several instances of English usage issues and lump them together into one or two longer posts.

Although I would like to choose the former option because it would allow me to publish more pages and give me more time to concentrate on other blogging chores, I’m not sure that I could write enough content for each issue to justify a whole article on it. However, I’m also seeing lots of bloggers making posts that are not more than one or two sentences long, so for some people perhaps shorter is better.

A very solid idea Karlonia, I highly recommend starting one up. I am sure you will be getting lots of daily visitors to the blog, especially those wanting to learn English and how to spell things properly.

Such a great commentator you are!

    Kind Regards,
    Fabien
