Ever since I started blogging, it hasn’t always been a joy ride; I’ve definitely had some times when I lacked energy and enthusiasm. As bloggers, we all have these kind of times, for whatever reason, we get stressed out and anxious which eventually leads to us being burnt out, after all we’re normal people and these things happen. The term burnout simply refers to being extremely fatigued and tired, resulting in a loss of interest in a particular area of life, usually work related. The thing is, there are ways to prevent this from happening to you and this post outlines what you can do to maintain your long term well-being as a blogger and a person. You need to work out a way to balance work and leisure time.
1. Ensure You Eat A Wholesome Breakfast In The Morning
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it provides us with the vitamins and nutrients that we will need to push on throughout the rest of the day. Despite the fact that many people know that breakfast is important, action is not taken; a large percentage of people skip this meal and wonder why they experience all sorts of nausea, drowsiness and overall ill health. I am not perfect either - I have also been known to skip out on this meal regularly, and I’ve had to pay for it dearly, I have since been trying to kick this bad habit and I’m succeeding quite well.
What can you eat for breakfast? I suggest staying away from any sort of sugary cereals, or the ones that have colourings in them, this combination is bad for you in general. The best types of cereals are those that consist of a lot of fibre, Weet-Bix is quite popular in Australia, any other equivalent of it should be fine. Read the label to ensure the package does not have any more than 20 grams of sugar. Fruits are always a great way to go, just ensure it is a fruit that has long-lasting energy, (e.g. bananas, plums and pears not apples).
2. Drink A Lot Of Water Regularly Throughout The Day
You probably know that the human body is made up of 55% to 65% of water. Water is therefore an essential part of your diet, I am sorry to say but this is one area where many people fail miserably. Water is important because it ensures that all of your major organs are functioning properly, the brain has a heavy reliance on the substance and so do many other organs in the body. When you are feeling a bit tired or drowsy, don’t take medication - go and have a couple of sips of water. I am sure you’ll notice a remarkable difference afterwards.
How do I keep on drinking water? Try and have bottles lined up around the place, then you can have a sip when and as it is required. Water is our natural element and we cannot live without it, it is highly important and it helps to promote and maintain good kidney function amongst other things. The kidneys need water because it helps to filter the various passageways and filtration systems located in the organ itself. Water does not only help the kidneys, it helps all the organs in the body to ensure that enough moisture is present for the organs to function properly.
3. Eat Average To Small Sized Portions Of Food For Lunch And Dinner
People in our day and age have a tendency to go for larger portions and they intake more food than is actually required. A good measure for the amount of food you should be having at every meal can be found using the cupped hand model - take both of your hands and put them next to each other and cup them. Eating average to small sized portions of food for lunch and dinner using this model means that you get what you need, without any extras. It would be a very good idea to include vegetables in this particular portion of food as they provide many nutrients not always found in meat and other products derived from meat.
4. Ensure You Eat A Wide Range Of Fruits And Vegetables
Eating a wide range of fruits and vegetables will help you keep energy levels right up there throughout the day. Vitamin supplements are NOT good, they are very bad for your body and do not promote healthy absorption processes, normally utilized by the body.
Refrain from having them unless you really need it. You can eat any kind of fruit or vegetable, simply be weary of which ones are better for you than others. Long lasting energy fruits: bananas, plums, pears and oranges. Very sugary fruits: Apples, pineapples and watermelons. Easy To Find Vegetables: Tomatoes, Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Lettuce and Peas.
5. Maintain A Daily Exercise Regimen, 30 Minutes Per Day Or More
I don’t have any excuses to give and nor do you, most of us exercise once in a while but we do not really do it consistently on a daily basis. The problem lies therein, if you want to be a well rounded individual you should set aside time to focus on your physical fitness.
Physical fitness is vital in life because it helps us stay in shape, it gives our entire body a workout because blood needs to be pumped quicker and therefore all the cogs and gearwheels (organs and muscles) in the body are working extra hard to enable you to walk faster than usual, run, swim, cycle, play tennis etc…If you want to get into a regular habit of working out, you don’t need to sign up to a gym, a 30 minute to an hour jog, power walk or run daily will help you maintain a reasonable level of physical fitness. If you want to develop muscles then I suggest signing up to a gym would be a good idea.
Final Words: In conclusion I want to extend the importance of being a healthy, well rounded person. It is not okay to sit on a computer for more than three hours non stop, get up once in a while, do some stretching, some on the spot jogging and make yourself feel good. As I was writing this post, I had a bottle of water and a glass next to me and I took about four or five gulps of water from start to finish; this is a good habit to have because it helps your body stay rejuvenated and hydrated.
I wrote this post because bloggers tend to forget about all of these essential parts of health and dieting, sometimes we can get so carried away that we don’t practice these aspects of a healthy lifestyle regularly, and I believe it is important that we all know and share this information actively. When you carry out these things for a healthier lifestyle you will also be more focused and you’ll be able to write better posts.
